Wimbledon GMB Dons 56 v Weymouth Wildcats 34
Aggregate:
Wimbledon 102 Weymouth 78

Led by Wayne Barrett and mark Burrows the
Wimbledon 'GMB Dons' caught the Weymouth 'Wildcats' napping, the top two for the 'Dons' gained paid maximums for their evenings work on track. With solid support from every member of the 'Dons' team, contributed to a well deserved victory over the visiting 'Wildcats'.

Dean Felton and Lee Smart together with Chris Johnson were the thorns in the 'Dons' side with these riders deserving even more than they scored. The Wildcats skipper Justin Elkins making a return to Plough Lane had a night that he will want to forget very quickly. His nightmare started as early as heat 1 by sheding a chain. This was followed by a last place, then another engine failing in heat 8 after being brought in as a golden double tac sub, and finally aboard another machine in heat 11 he came to a coughing and spluttering halt at the starting gate. Justins bike had been welded after cracking the frame last week only for it still to be not aligned hence the throwing of chains for the unlucky skipper of the 'Wildcats', so let's hope his engine and bike problems are now behind him before our last match this season on Friday evening at the Wessex Stadium.

With Ben Barker also struggling aboard a new machine around Plough Lane, team manager Brian White ran out of options very fast. Nathan Irwin battled from the number two position with a credible 4 points against the stiff Wimbledon opposition.

As it goes in speedway if all the boys were riding to their potential and had some good luck rather than misfortune this match could have been a lot closer.
